Initial Assessment of Fire Response Time between Different Categories of Fire Stations in Malaysia

Response time is an important factor in fire operations. A continuous assessment of response crucial order to monitor firefighters’ performance level. An initial was conducted for stations categories A-D throughout Malaysia from 2018 2020. The were determined based on risk profiling scores. In this study, the mean and distance travelled selected calculated. To measure station’s performance, a 10 min standard used as benchmark. One-way analysis variance (ANOVA) also applied statistically determine any significant differences between travelled. Among four categories, category C D recorded high values time. Category time, at 15.1 min, travelled, 20.1 km. areas where are located have low population density, resulting greater coverage stations. Most had approximately 13.8 km travel with 17.9 min. require substantial amount reach incident locations due low-quality road network local topography. new method minimizing constant development these might be necessary future improvement. Additionally, would meet demands expanding communities. It note that establishing demand zone specific could give better indication future.
